It also seeks to review and analyse the essential challenges of strategic management and to discuss some strategies and tools for dealing with these challenges; and provide concluding remarks by linking privatisation with the subject matter. The books studied highlighted the essential challenges of strategic management as growth, value, focus, change, future knowledge and time. However, the scope of this study is the first four challenges. The review and analysis in this study cover the nature of each challenge, how it constitutes a challenge, strategies for dealing with each challenge and the supporting strategies and tools. It is concluded that the difficulties of each challenge manifest in all forms of organisation, and privatisation has been adopted as a strategy for managing these challenges as they manifest in the public sector.
