Programme Introduction
The MBA in Strategic Management Accounting combines the disciplines of management accounting and strategy. In this programme, students will cover a variety of tools and concepts that assist management with the planning, coordination, motivation, and strategic directives of the organisation.
Programme Objectives
This programme has two main objectives. The first objective is to master the use of management accounting tools in decision making. The second objective is to apply such tools in assisting organisations in strategic decisions pertaining to product, customer, and market pursuits.
Course Delivery
The programme content will be delivered via distance learning through Professor Cianflone. Correspondence will occur over e-mail. There are no examinations, however a series of case studies (or articles) will be completed and submitted for grading throughout the curriculum.
You will maintain a Journal of the time that you devote to each case study submission in accordance with Rushmore procedures. Your Journal will detail the time that you devoted to reading books for the case study, researching references, writing your course paper and revising your paper in response to comments from the Editor. You will submit your Journal to your reviewing Professor when you submit the paper for his or her review. You will earn one credit for each 20 hours that you devote to a course. For example, if you spend 60 hours on a course, you will receive three credits for the course.

About Professor Domenic Cianflone
Professor Domenic Cianflone is the CEO and founder of Synergy Management Consulting Inc., a boutique management consulting firm (www.synergymgt.ca). His industry experience covers distribution, professional services, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and staffing. His areas of expertise are management consulting, strategy formulation, supply chain operations, balanced scorecards, activity-based management, product life cycle costing, business development, financial reporting and analysis, leadership training and education, corporate governance, and staff recruitment. Throughout his career, he has directed numerous projects in strategy, financial management, and human resource management.
Dr. Cianflone is a faculty member at the Schulich School of Business at York University and the University of Toronto Mississauga. In addition, he has held teaching appointments at Wilfrid Laurier University, Ryerson University, and Humber College. His teaching specialisations include management accounting, strategic leadership, financial analysis, and accounting and finance for non-financial managers. He lectures in both undergraduate and graduate programmes.
Professor Cianflone's academic credentials include a B.Com. from Ryerson University in Toronto, an MBA from Heriot-Watt University (UK), and a PhD from Rushmore. In addition, he holds the prestigious designation of Certified Management Accountant and serves on the Board of Governors of CMA Ontario.
He is the author of Cases in Management Accounting and Strategy, First Edition and has written numerous articles published in professional periodicals. Furthermore, he has been a speaker on ethical leadership and recruitment best practices. Dr. Cianflone resides in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
